Curbside Coat Drive is Underway
Last year, we decided it would be a great idea to call on OKC to donate coats to help the vendors of The Curbside Chronicle, and we asked for 218 coats. But the response was unbelievable, and we received almost 500!
Now it’s a new season, and that means new people in need.
It’s slowly getting colder, but it will likely get really cold—really fast. In fact, this is OKC, so it just might snow tomorrow! Because of this, we decided to start Coats for Curbside early this year! If you aren’t familiar, The Curbside Chronicle is an amazing venture in OKC that gives jobs—and even housing—to those trying to work their way out of homelessness. Known for their philosophy of a hand up rather than a handout, Curbside Chronicle is doing great things for this city. They are recognized as the men and women out in green vests, standing in the cold to sell you a magazine for 2 bucks, but more importantly, they are there to find an end to their homelessness.
So, what we’re asking from you is to pitch in with something very easy that creates a big impact—because that’s what we’re about at ICG. So share some warmth! Bring us your new or slightly used coats, and we’ll get them to the many vendors braving the cold to better their lives.
Cleaning out your closet? Great! Bring us your old coats. Shopping for Christmas and stumble upon a steal? Add it to your cart! We want to get another stock for Curbside’s current vendors, as well as the new ones coming in all the time. It takes so little to make a difference.
The greatest need is typically for men’s sizes L-4XL, but we welcome all coat donations. Please bring them to our office at 19 NE 9thStreet in Automobile Alley during business hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) or leave them on the rack outside when we’re closed.
And new this year, Kendra Scott has partnered with us! With a philosophy that “we care about what you care about,” the jewelry store is not only collecting coats at their location in Classen Curve, they are also giving a discount for donations. Bring in a coat and receive 15% off your total purchase until November 20th. We are grateful to have them along for this worthy cause!
Now let’s do this OKC. Bring a coat; change a life.
