ICG values giving back to the communities in which we live and work. It’s great to have the opportunity to work with nonprofit organizations that do the same. We recently had the pleasure of working with Novo Ministries, who does exactly that.
Novo Ministries is a faith-based organization that exists to break cycles of destruction, create hope, and instill a sense of purpose through life-changing mentoring relationships with inner-city boys and girls. They accomplish this through after-school programs taking place in schools, community centers, public housing and apartment complexes.
Through a web redesign, ICG was able to help Novo Ministries clearly and effectively communicate their mission, provide curriculum content to their volunteers, and tell the stories of the lives they’ve changed for the better through their one-on-one mentorship and sharing the word of Jesus.
When dealing with social justice and inequality, there is a tendency to focus on the numbers. The statistics for poverty and abuse paint an upsetting picture of what’s wrong in the world. While there is value in data these numbers place an analytical distance between us and the who we’re looking at. Statistics are not what connect us to each other as feeling human beings. For the new website, we decided to shift the focus from the numbers to stories of hope and redemption.
