At the 2023 Shorty Impact Awards, Oklahoma City advertising agency Insight Creative Group (ICG) won Small Agency of the Year and multiple awards for its work with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services’ (ODMHSAS) 988 Mental Health Lifeline.
The Shorty Awards honor the most purposeful digital and social media work around the globe. ICG and 988 Oklahoma competed against a number of international brands and agencies, including UNICEF, Dove, MTV Entertainment Studios, Ad Council, and Edelman.
“It’s an honor to represent OKC and share the stage with massive brands,” said Rusty Duncan, ICG partner. “I’m so proud of our team and the work they’ve put into this life-saving campaign.”
In addition to the top honor for agencies of less than 1,500 employees, the 31-person agency won two category awards:
- Best Use of Instagram for its Mental Health Awareness Month campaign, and
- Best Mental Health Campaign for its collaborations with Oklahoma artists like Kristin Chenoweth, Mothica, and Denise Duong.
“It’s a humbling experience to be acknowledged internationally for our efforts to make mental health and addiction discussion commonplace,” said Heath Holt, ODMHSAS chief communications officer. “We’re grateful for the collective efforts of all our partners who work tirelessly to raise awareness and deliver vital services through the 988 Mental Health Lifeline.”
ICG and 988 Oklahoma also won silver in the Best PSA category for “Get Your Burden Off Your Back,” which stars Kristin Chenoweth. Calls to the 988 Mental Health Lifeline have doubled since the PSA first aired during Super Bowl LVII, and over 50,000 Oklahomans have called or texted 988 since the lifeline’s campaign began in July 2022.
The Shorty Awards took place November 13 at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
